How To Raise Your Home’s Value

04-17-20 | Selling

At risk of stating the obvious, an immaculate and well-maintained home will ALWAYS sell faster than a dirty and unorganized one. Finding ways to raise your property’s resale value may sound difficult, but it’s in fact a very achievable goal. We’ve put together a few hunts to help raise your home’s market value.

Have a Plan-of-Action

The simplest way for you to get the best out of this exercise is if you set out in a clear and organised approach. Take a look around your home and, paper and pen in hand, write a list of the issues that you would want to improve. Sit down, run through your list and determine what the price for repairs or renewal could amount to and then go from there. Doing some research into who can offer the best deals for your selected improvements may seem a chore but it will here a worthwhile investment in both saving money short-term and making money from a sale.

Repaint Those Walls

Freshly repainted walls in your home provides a new energy and vitality to your rooms which will resonate with would-be buyers. This is especially the case with neutral colours like tan, cream or beige for the inside – feel free to ask your realtor about their opinion; they’ve seen enough houses to know what will work in your home. As for the outside, look for areas where the paint might be worn from weather. Buy paint that is durable through any weather conditions.

Upgrade Your Kitchen

It’s such an important room in your home, so the kitchen should be given extra attention when selling. This may seem like a big job (and it can be if you want it to), but there are a few things that you can do to modernize. Take your cupboards for example: give them a fresh coat of white paint along with installing new handles to make them appear brand new. You can even go one step further, take out and replace the old cabinets while leaving the exterior cupboards unspoiled.

Scrub Your Washrooms

Unwanted interesting fact: the washrooms are the rooms that are actively used most in your home (we won’t go into the details). As a result, a relative amount of damage, wear and/or tear will be evident to onlookers – which is why it’s imperative to update your washrooms for viewings. Best have some rubber gloves at the ready for this. Dirt, grime and all manner of unseemly material can gather very quickly on surfaces. Give your washrooms an initial extensive clean and maintain a schedule of cleaning thereafter.

A perfectly clean home offers up so many benefits all at once. Maintenance problems will become easier to solve from the outset, space will seem larger than if it were in a messy state and most importantly it will give you peace of mind that your home looks as good as it possibly can!
