This could start a heated debate about who has the best spot in the city – an argument as old as soft vs hard shell. The conversation will inevitably wage on, but until then we’ve put together a list of our favourite places in Toronto. Chow down on our choices.
Sweet Jesus (La Carnita) – 780 Queen Street East
Part of the chain present in the city, we could have selected any of their restaurants. We have opted for the location in Leslieville, which marries amazing décor with exceptional tacos. Staples like the Pollo Frito and Carnita confit pork remain on the menu, as well as unique offerings like the crispy oxtail tacos.
Grand Electric – 923 Queen Street West
Swapping east for west Queen, you’ll have to rush to get your hands on them. Grand Electric, as we know it, will be closing to be replaced for a vegetarian taco and juice joint, Tacos Rico. An admirable decision, and if their new tacos are as good as their currents ones, you’re in for a treat.
Seven Lives – 69 Kensington Avenue
A mainstay of Kensington Market, people come from all over the city to feast at this near-tableless spot. The baja-inspired tacos are delicious – which a wide array of options and sauces to choose from, to accommodate any heat tolerance. Do yourself a favour: get the Gobernator (you’ll thank us later).
